Wellies and Pyjamas

The weeks have suddenly grown longer with Talitha. Part of that is due to my energy levels. I’m feeling uncreative and unmotivated most days and if I haven’t taken the time to loosely plan the next day, we’re doomed to mutual grumpiness. I think it must also be that time of the year, though, when Christmas has come and been so winter seems unforgivingly endless.

Toddler looking at chickens

I look out at a grey, wet morning and would rather stay in bed, reading a book or playing on the internet. My toddler sweeps back the curtains and proclaims it farm day. Yes. We will go to the farm and see “am-ah-mals”. But not cows. Lawrence Weston Community Farm does not have cows.

Greedy pig

I never regret overriding my laziness to get out and explore with her, particularly at the moment when her recent nightmare has transformed the house into a world of tiresomely scary things. The distraction of the outdoors is welcome. So welcome.

Joules wellies at the farm

It’s also been an opportunity to try my new wellies, sent to me by Joules. In fact, they made a trip to the farm practically luxurious. Of course, they do the job. They’re certainly up to coping with all the mud we were met with. They’re also bright and cheerful and the most comfortable wellies I have ever worn. I may just start wearing them every day, regardless of where we’re going.

Lawrence Weston Community Farm

I know I’ve had about two-and-a-half-years with Talitha but is it weird to say I still feel like I’m only just getting into my stride with this mama thing? Do you ever get to the point where you feel like: “Yes, I know what I’m doing now”? It’s all about to change again too!

Joules girls pyjamas

As gloomy as I do sometimes get about winter, I can’t imagine raising a child in the tropical one I grew up in. I love that we can follow a chilly day outside with a pyjama snuggle. I love these girls’ pyjamas from Joules. The colours are fresh and the prints stylish. For Talitha, the horses on the bottoms are the business. They’re so soft I just want to keep hugging her and hugging her. For now, she mostly lets me.

Joules toddler pyjamas

Throw in a few bunnies, books and cuddles and I start thinking I may have got it wrong. This may well be my favourite time of year.

Joules sent me the pair of wellies and the pyjama top and bottoms featured in this post. As always, my opinions are my own.

It looks like you had a lovely day, outdoor fun followed by cosy snuggles is pretty much my idea of perfection.

As you know I am very much a fan of wearing wellies every day! I’ve only just been persuaded to start wearing normal footwear. These pics of T are so cute! I had no idea Lawrence Western had a city farm, there are so many about aren’t there. I think there is a little toddler gardening group on Mondays at the windmill hill one I want to check out soon if you fancy it (well in a while I guess when you are more out and about after the new baby!) xx

I think Lawrence Weston might actually be my favourite one out of all of them. It’s vast and has lots of woodland space. They just need to get a cafe! Though the do lunch club on some days, which is cheap and cheerful. On Wednesdays they get to feed the animals and pet the guinea pig at Farm Tots. Yes, I’d heard about the gardening group. We’d be well up for that.

Overcoming laziness and getting out of the house is always an amazing feeling. I need to do it more! You are right though, it is so much easier at any other time of year. I’m so sick of all this rain x

We drive each other crazy when we stay in too much. This girl needs a good run-around outdoors! But yes, some sunshine would make it so much easier!

Ah, we haven’t had a day out at the farm for ages! I must put that right soon! I love the pic of the pig – brilliant!

She was a pregnant pig who had just been thrown an egg. It was both funny and a bit scary!

The farm is always a hit with kids. Adore your wellies! I have yet to own a pair, still in trainers and jeans. I find it hard to commit to a design, lol Super cute PJ bottoms! I bet she slept well that night :0)
